Andy in a sweat

- By IAIN STEWART

ANDY MURRAY’S Wimbledon plans were in chaos last night after he was forced to pull out of another warm-up match.

The world No.1 cancelled a second exhibition game at London’s Hurlingham Club after being warned by his medical team to rest his sore hip.

Defending champion Murray will now go into his first match at SW19 on Monday with only one full match on grass under his belt – a shock Queen’s defeat by rank outsider Jordan Thompson.

The Scot will find out his first opponent in today’s draw and said: “Sadly I won’t be ready to play at The Hurlingham today, my hip is still sore and I need to rest it.”

Coach Ivan Lendl said: “I’m not worried.” But he

did admit that Murray has not had enough practice, saying: “The first match on grass is always tricky. It’s not that surprising to see guys lose to people who had already been on grass for two weeks.

“I don’t care how good you are. We have seen that movie over and over.”

Roger Federer has warned Murray not to play if he isn’t 100 per cent fit.

The seven-time Wimbledon champion said: “Andy needs to feel he could play for 14 days, or seven matches. If you feel you can only play one match, I don’t think it’s good enough.

“Over the best of five sets, over two weeks, only the tough survive. You need to feel confident in your body.

“But Andy’s as tough as nails and I think he’s going to be there on Monday.”

Murray’s mum Judy said: “Hopefully Andy will be fit. He’s been unlucky this year with a few illnesses and an elbow injury. That doesn’t help.”
