Johnno battlers Ed-in to the final

-

GOALS from Kevin Dawson and Ed Upson earned Yeovil Town victory, as boss Gary Johnson screamed: ‘‘We are a small team but now we’re on our way to Wembley!’’

Yeovil took six minutes to scrub out their first leg deficit when Dawson took Upson’s through ball before slotting past George Long.

Jamie Murphy almost put Sheffield United back in front in the tie when he rattled the bar with a shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Paddy Madden and James Hayter then both missed good chances for Yeovil before Upson rose to head in Madden’s cross five minutes from time to send Huish Park wild.

Delighted Yeovil fans flooded the pitch at full-time as players celebrated. Champagnesoaked boss Johnson said: “This is very special for the club and the town.

“It is a wonderful achievement and this is what we are all in the game of football for – it means the world to the club and the fans.

“We have not won it yet but we have a great chance of going into the Championship.”

The Blades’ caretaker boss Chris Morgan hopes their latest play-off failure will not cost him the manager’s job at Bramall Lane.

Morgan said: “We have a fantastic group of young players who now have to take today’s disappointment and put it in their locker.

“I want to be the one that leads them. That is not my decision but I have told the board I want the job full-time.’’
