Lyndon chops down Forest in dream debut

- By HECTOR NUNNS

LYNDON DYKES snuffed out Forest’s hopes of banishing last season’s demons with a dream debut.

The Scotland striker, 22, made a £2million switch from Livingston last month.

And he won and scored a

54th-minute penalty before Ilias Chair sealed victory in stoppage time.

Dykes (below) was brought down by Tobias Figueiredo then confidently slammed the spot-kick into the roof of the net.

Warburton said: “Lyndon has done what he hoped he would do.

“He troubled experienced international centre-halves up in Scotland.

“He has physicality, an eye for a goal and wasn’t too timid with that penalty as you saw. He put himself about and I love that side of it.

“It is a fantastic bit of business for the club.

“It is a great way to start for us against a very tough and talented opponent.”

It was a grim afternoon for Sabri Lamouchi’s Forest, who missed out on the play-offs in July following a catastrophic collapse.

And the Reds’ villain was last term’s

20-goal top scorer Lewis Grabban – guilty of three bad misses.

Lamouchi said: “It is disappointing, we have started in a bad way. We needed to be cleverer.

“With the first mistake we gave them the penalty.

“Normally with Lewis with those three clear chances he scores easily two goals. It wasn’t a bad game for him, just bad on the finishing because he needs to be our killer, our scorer.”
