Chic-stick JAVIER STAYING PUT SAYS MOYES

- By Nick Parkinson

DAVID MOYES and West Ham were left frustrated after a second draw in a month with Bournemouth.

This time, the Scot’s side only had themselves to blame for failing to turn chances into goals and needed Javier Hernandez – linked with a £7.5million move to Besiktas – to scramble an equaliser.

Ryan Fraser’s slick finish gave Bournemouth the lead for just 69 seconds before substitute Hernandez scored his fifth goal of the season.

It was a timely reminder of the Mexican’s worth, after joining for £16million from Bayer Leverkusen last summer but linked with a move away in this month’s transfer window.

Moyes, however, insists the Mexican is going nowhere.

The West Ham boss said: “There is speculation about every man and his dog at this club. We’re short of numbers, we’ve got a few injuries to forwards and we needed Chicharito.

“The goal he got was typical and hopefully we can get more balls into the box like that and he will score more goals for us. I thought we merited a goal in the first half.

“We probably played our best football since I’ve been here.

“We passed it well we just missed a cutting edge for me. It’s progress.

“With 15 minutes to go I would have taken a draw because the 120 minutes against Shrewsbury in midweek took its toll.”

After absorbing so much pressure Bournemouth will be happy with a point.

Boss Eddie Howe, whose side have just a four-point gap over the bottom three, said: “I thought we were pretty slow out of the traps but we grew into the game and got better and did well not to concede.

“We had a similar start in the second half. We’re disappointed because we were the team that took the lead and when you get into that position you have to back yourself to win.

“We just didn’t deal with the long ball into the box very well and we didn’t attack the ball well twice.”

After Manuel Lanzini limped off with a suspected hamstring injury Hernandez brought renewed energy to West Ham.

The former Manchester United man made a difference – but not before Bournemouth took a surprise lead in the 71st minute.

Junior Stanislas, against his old team, split the home defence and Fraser raced clear of Pablo Zabaleta to lash in.

West Ham were shocked into mustering a quick response two minutes later, with Hernandez prodding the ball home after Marko Arnautovic’s effort was blocked
