THE heartbroken family of a teenager who was killed in an e-bike crash have spoken of how their son just “loved going out and about with his mates”.

Marcus Beck, 17, died following the incident on the A941 near Elgin at about 8pm on Monday.

Emergency services attended the scene following reports of the collision involving a Sur-ron e-bike, a blue Vauxhall Mokka, a red Renault Clio, a black Vauxhall Corsa and a white VW Golf.

Medics attended but Marcus and his 16-year-old pal Gregor Booth were pronounced dead at the scene.

Marcus’s family released a statement through Police Scotland. They said: “Marcus was a young man who loved going out and about with his mates. He will be missed so very much by all of his family and his friends.

“We cannot begin to explain what a shock this has been for everyone and we’d like time to be able to come to terms with what has happened.”

Marcus and Gregor were passengers on the e-bike. Their 14-year-old friend, who was driving the bike, was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital for treatment to serious injuries. He is in a stable condition.

Tributes flooded in on social media. Lisa J Gray said: “Rest easy boys, there are just no words. Lots of broken hearts have been left behind, thinking of your families and friends at this sad heartbreaking time.”

The driver of the Mokka, a 54-year-old man, was also taken to hospital. His condition was critical but stable.

No one else was injured. The road was closed for crash investigation work to be carried out and officers are appealing for information.

Sergeant Iain Nicholson said: “Our thoughts remain with the families and friends of all involved. This is an incident that has also affected the wider community.”
