Telly star is a bag of nerves as she prepares to enter big tent to raise money for cancer after scare when rugby hero husband Kenny was diagnosed with disease

PRESENTER Gabby Logan is whipping out her whisk and heading into the Bake Off tent to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer after her husband, rugby legend Kenny, was diagnosed with the illness.

Gabby, 50, is married to the former Scotland wing, who discovered he was in the early stages of prostate cancer in February 2022.

Ex-rhythmic gymnast Gabby will face signature, technical and showstopper challenges for judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

She will compete in The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer with comic and author David O’Doherty, presenter and ex-Strictly pro Oti Mabuse and comic Suzi Ruffell.

Yesterday Gabby showed her nerves when she posted a picture inside the tent captioned: “Well this is petrifying.” Other celebs to sign up include Spice Girl Mel B, comedian Adam Hills, actor Danny Dyer and broadcaster Dermot O’Leary. Paloma Faith, Sara Cox and Oti Mabuse will also compete.

Host Alison Hammond, 49, who appeared on the celebrity version of the show before joining as a host said, “I’m totally in awe of this year’s celebrity bakers, all putting their baking skills, or in some cases lack of, under nationwide scrutiny to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer.

“And as someone who proved to be something of a baking genius [sic] when I baked in the tent a few years ago, I was delighted to be able to show them the ropes and where the oven doors were.”

And Prue, 83, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to share that we’re serving up another delightful season of The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer this spring on Channel 4.

“Brace yourself for a delectable lineup of bakers, each with their own unique flair in the kitchen – some are, admittedly, a bit more flour-savvy than others! Filming this show was a delicious dose of fun, sprinkled with some unforgettable baking moments. I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”

The series will span five episodes and see 20 stars vie to be Star Baker.

■ The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer will be available to watch and stream on Channel 4 later this year.
