We can keep this going for the league

- By FRASER WILSON

Ray McKinnon reckons Forfar are in for a special second half of the season if his revitalised side can reproduce the levels they showed against Hibs.

The Loons dominated the opening 45 minutes and could have been two or three goals up at the interval with Seb Ross, Stuart Morrison and andy Munro all going close.

Ex-aberdeen kid Ross in particular was a constant menace to the Premiership side’s backline.

But Forfar looked strong throughout their ranks with a performance that belied their eighth position in League Two.

and McKinnon said: “We were unfortunate not to be in at half-time 1-0 or 2-0 up. i’m proud of the players.

“We ran out of steam a wee bit in the last 10 or 15 minutes, we tried to change the shape and be more adventurous but it wasn’t to be.

“it’s been building, we’ve struggled this year in terms of consistency with injuries, suspensions and whatever.

“We’re starting to get everybody back and we’ve brought a few new bodies in.

“The last five or six games have been much better and we’ve continued it against Hibs. if we can keep that momentum going into the league, that would be great for the second half of the season.

“Fair play to Hibs, they withstood it and won the game. i wish them well but on our performance, we were great.”

Keeper Marc McCallum produced a stunning penalty save at 0-0.

and McKinnon added: “it was a great save – but it was never a penalty! Justice was done there.

“We knew we had to turn Hibs, we couldn’t play in front of them. We don’t have that level – and when we turned them and played in their half, set-pieces and things, we were a real threat.”
