Robbie will be happy to win bore war

-

AS Jose Mourinho once said, ‘Boring is 10 years without a title – that is very boring.’

Robbie Deas wouldn’t be bothered at all if rival fans turned the old ‘boring, boring’ chant on Caley Thistle like Arsenal fans did to Chelsea.

But the former Celtic kid insists the insult would be inaccurate.

After three 1-0 victories from three, Deas is happy with the clean sheets and content to be flying high in the Championship.

It took a slightly freakish goal from Tom Walsh to make it nine points from nine on Saturday.

But Scotland Under-21s defender Deas said: “We can’t complain. We’ve had three 1-0 victories.

“We’re not scoring as many as we’d like but we’re getting the points and that’s crucial in the Championship.”

Fifer Deas, who left boyhood club Celtic and signed a three-year deal with Inverness last summer, is a centre-half playing at left-back.

He said: “I’m 21, still young, and I’m still learning my trade.

“Growing up, I was a winger and I’ve just worked my way back.

“I will play anywhere for the team.”

Ayr, with their noisy backing, had chances but so too did the hosts on several occasions, including twice for Deas.

The vital moment came when Shane Sutherland sent Manny Duku down the left. His cross was met by Ayr captain Sean McGinty but his clearance attempt clattered against Caley Thistle winger Walsh and past keeper Charlie Albinson.

Ayr boss David Hopkin claimed: “We had chances and we just need to do better in the final third.”
