Fraser warns Brora will be roaring back
KEVIN FRASER believes Highland League title hopefuls would be stupid to write off battered and beleaguered Brora Rangers.
The classy Buckie Thistle midfielder helped his team secure a 5-0 victory over derby rivals Deveronvale on Saturday to set the pace at the summit.
But Fraser reckons it’s far too early to read anything into Buckie’s blistering start or managerless Brora’s shock defeats either side of boss Steven Mackay’s exit.
Fraserburgh, Brechin City, Inverurie Locos and Formartine also harbour title intent this season.
But Buckie have been the most eye-catching side in the opening matches, clocking up 24 goals without reply in four games.
The Jags captain said: “We have to keep our feet on the ground. We’ll keep an eye on other results, but we just want to concentrate on ourselves. We know that
Brora have had a bad few weeks, but they will come again and I’m certain they will still be up there.
“We don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves.”
Max Barry netted twice inside 25 minutes with Sam Morrison, Fraser and John MacLeod also on target.
Fraserburgh edged out Nairn County 3-2 with Scott Barbour’s third goal for Broch proving enough.
Brechin slipped up at home to Rothes in a 2-2 draw, with a point spared by a Max Kucheriavyi leveller.
While a hat-trick from Marcus Goodall helped Huntly dump Turriff 4-0.
Liam Archibald’s late strike at home to Wick sealed a 2-1 win, while Keith held Inverurie Locos to a 0-0 draw.
Stuart Smith’s double helped Formartine to bag a big 3-0 away win against Brora while Archie Macphee hit the winner in Forres’ 3-2 win Fort William.
