EURO RIVALS AXE GAFFER

Ingebrigtsen was in charge last season against the Hoops as James Forrest’s away goal secured a 1-0 aggregate success.

Rosenborg are just two points behind Norwegian leaders Brann and the departure is set to cause major upheaval days before a game that will shape their season.

Celtic dealt with something similar last season when Anderlecht sacked boss Rene Weiler and replaced him with Nicolas Frutos before the Hoops earned a 3-0 away triumph in last season’s group stage.

Despite all the upheaval and the unconvincing display against Valur, Rosenborg star Bendtner is confident of dumping the Parkhead side.

And the former Arsenal star is just relieved to be in the next round after coming within seconds of a shock exit.

Bendtner said: “We would rather be playing Celtic, instead of a Europa League trip to Andorra which we would have got had we not scored the third goal against Valur.

“It will be a different match to last year. We know how they play.

“And we know they are a massive club who are extremely consistent in getting to the group stage.

“We will have to prepare ourselves well and look for a different outcome.

“Scoring that late penalty, I knew what was at stake. They said our penalty was fortunate but we have been cheated many times in our league by bad decisions, so I think we deserve some fortune.”

Meanwhile, Hoops stopper Dedryck Boyata is the subject of interest from Lyon, according to sources in France.
