FROM BACK PAGE winner against Barcelona as a raw teenager, is playing catch-up after spells with Charlton, Standard Liege and most recently Belgian second-tier outfit Leuven.

But the 24-year-old, who last played in Scotland during a loan spell at Hearts, insists he will silence the doubters.

He said: “People think I am going to cause problems and I’m a bad egg.

“Does it annoy me? Yeah, because it’s tedious. As soon as something doesn’t go right, which happens in football, people talk about my attitude. Come on, get something to prove I have a bad attitude. I don’t think anyone ever has.

“When I was at Charlton playing every week nobody mentioned it, at Liege it never got a mention. At Lierse there were a couple of things because the manager didn’t like me.

“When things don’t go right it’s easy to get on the slide and make the wrong decisions. That’s why I had to come back to Scotland. I’ve signed for a manager who will be good for me. Sometimes you need someone to just be truthful.

“Derek McInnes allowed me to come in to Aberdeen and he was brilliant with me, he opened the doors and let me train with his team. For the last six weeks I have cleansed my body, really focusing on my diet, so I’ve trimmed down.”

Perth boss Tommy Wright said: “Tony is going to be a good signing for us. We can give him a platform to enjoy his football.”
