DAVIES COULD DODGE NEW RAP
ROSS COUNTY skipper Andrew Davies could escape further SFA punishment for his stamp on Scott Brown.
The Dingwall defender was sent off for a dreadful challenge on his Celtic counterpart
From Back Page in last weekend’s 3-0 loss at Parkhead. Davies was automatically hit with a two-game ban which rules him out of tonight’s clash with Partick Thistle and Saturday against Hibs.
SFA compliance officer Tony McGlennan has the option of referring the tackle for further examination through a notice of complaint after considering ref Steven McLean’s report. That will be assessed today after offices were closed due to Easter holidays.
However, Record Sport understands Davies’s initial punishment could also be deemed sufficient and there may be no additional charge.
County co-boss Steven Ferguson says nobody is hurting more than villain Davies after a tackle Brendan Rodgers branded one of the worst he’s seen since taking over at Celtic.
Ferguson said: “Listen, it’s a game of football – passionate – with 22 men on the pitch wanting to win.
“Andrew is a wholehearted player and he will be accountable for his own actions. Nobody is more disappointed at what happened than the big guy himself. He’ll need to take his medicine on it and we’ll need to take our medicine.”
