MISSING Crystalla Dean’s pet dogs raised the alarm by coming home without her, it was revealed yesterday.

Police said Crystalla’s daughter contacted them when the two collielurcher crosses returned alone.

She had assumed when she returned to the house she shared with her mum and found only one of their three dogs that Crystalla had taken the others for a walk.

Air, land and sea searches over the past week have failed to find 52-year-old Crystalla.

She was last seen by her daughter at their house in Longsdale Crescent, Oban, last Thursday.

Police drafted extra officers into the seaside town yesterday to stop and interview motorists and pedestrians in their search for information.

Sergeant Iain MacNicol said: “It’s a mystery at this point where she has gone and we are doing everything we can to establish what has happened.

“The daughter was away on Thursday night, she left about 8pm and her mother was there.

“She went to her work on Friday and when she went home in the evening, her mother was missing.”

“The two dogs came back later that evening on their own.

“That was what told the daughter that this was something unusual and she treated it seriously. She was concerned and reported her mother missing. Because it was so out of character, it was investigated immediately.”

Crystalla’s daughter was too upset to speak about her mum yesterday.

Chief Inspector Marlene Baillie said: “As more time passes and especially with severe weather heading this way, we are becoming increasingly concerned for Crystalla’s safety and wellbeing.”
