Sunak’s pledges are more hot air

-

PRIME MINISTER Rishi Sunak’s five pledges to the nation are worthless when what the majority of the British public wants is a general election. But we know very well they will never agree to it because they think they know what’s best for the country.

I believe it’s their intention to cripple the NHS and bring down the unions, ruining this once great country. They will hang on to power until the very last minute simply because they believe they are born to rule. But it’s this arrogant attitude that will be their downfall when they finally call that long awaited election.

Then, it’s paramount that all working class people get out and cast their votes to put the Conservatives out of power, hopefully for a very long time.

■ It seems obvious this Tory Government is incapable of running the country. However, the Tories will hang on to power whatever damage they cause. We need an election now before they have dug an even bigger hole. Fortunately, I’m old enough to remember how Labour made this country a place to be proud of with the NHS, the nationalised public services, and free further education which I benefited from.

■ Rishi Sunak came into politics with a youthful exuberance and a soothing tone. He blazed his way through the pandemic as Chancellor delivering furlough

schemes, before becoming Prime Minister almost by default. Like his predecessors, he promised the world but history will judge him to have failed.

To gamble his political future on his five pledges to fix Britain before the next election is madness.

He told us we can trust him, but personally I can’t trust anyone who was fined for breaking the law at one of the most dangerous times in this country’s history.

■ I remember reading Enid Blyton’s Famous Five books as a boy and now we have our very own “famous five” – Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss and Sunak.

Famous for destroying our NHS, failing to provide a living wage for millions across the nation, responsible for food banks popping up on every high street and the industrial action taking place on a daily basis which, in some cases, could result in loss of life.

This country needs a general election and fast so the people can say enough is enough.

■ Looking at the dreadful state of this once great country, I believe the Tories can legitimately be held to account for a dereliction of duty. Everywhere there is disorder and chaos.

Tory ministers, from the Prime Minister down, are failing to carry out their duties. One of their first obligations is to ensure the safety of the public and from the fiasco of their Covid response to crashing the economy, to their dreadful treatment of the NHS with people dying while waiting for treatment, they have failed.

We have the worst possible government at the worse possible time.

■ We all understand that, in the light of the UK’s self-induced socio-economic meltdown, PM Sunak has to pull some rabbits out of his hat. Is anyone looking around them at the Tory chaos and thinking, well if only everyone studied maths to age 18 (despite the shortage of qualified teachers) we wouldn’t be in this mess?
