Charles’ letter to Biden as pair share concerns over environmental issues
PRINCE Charles sent a personal letter to new US President Joe Biden after being “hugely encouraged” by his environmental stance.
Charles is said to admire the President who, hours after being sworn in on January 20, began reversing his predecessor’s anti-green policies.
A royal source said: “The Prince was hugely encouraged that one of the very first acts the new President undertook was to reinstate the US to the Paris Climate Agreement.
“The two men share the same indisputable view, that the global climate crisis is the biggest threat to humankind.” The Prince already has a long-standing relationship with former US Secretary of State John Kerry, who Biden has brought in as a special Presidential envoy on climate change. President Biden has previously warned climate change poses the “greatest threat” to his country, which was plagued by wildfires, hurricanes and heatwaves in 2020.
His top advisers have also confirmed he will soon reverse “more than 100” of Donald Trump’s climate-related policies. Environmentalist Chris Packham believes Biden and the Prince “will be a real force to be reckoned with on the global stage”, in convincing world leaders to tackle climate change. This year Charles launched the Terra Carta initiative, aiming to raise $10billion this year to convince the world’s biggest companies to make more ethical investments.
