Coote’s a star, roll with it..

RYAN SHAW’S late penalty eased the pressure on coach Tim Sheens as Hull KR finally came out of a close contest on top.

Shaw’s nerveless kick proved the difference between the teams after Craig Hall’s two opportunist tries looked to have put Rovers in control.

Sheens said: “It was certainly a relief, I’d be silly to say it’s not. We were fortunate they missed a couple of goals and we kicked the one that counted.”

Tries by Kane Linnett and Hall put Rovers 14-0 up and Salford then had Pauli Pauli sin-binned for a late hit.

But the hosts started their comeback while down to 12 men with a try from Joey Lussick. Though Hall bagged a second after the restart, further Salford scores to Pauli and two from Ken Sio drew the teams level before the decisive penalty from Shaw (above).

Salford boss Ian Watson said: “We’re a fool to ourselves. The way we managed the last few minutes of the game bit us on the backside.” LACHLAN COOTE produced another electric display as St Helens continued their march towards the League Leaders’ Shield.

Full-back Coote (above) – the subject of a terrace chant to the tune of Oasis hit She’s Electric – scored a try and booted four goals in another mightily influential performance.

Coach Justin Holbrook said: “Everyone played their part and Jonny Lomax, Theo Fages and Cootey are really controlling games well.

“In the big moments of matches so far this year we’re performing well.”

Cas coach Daryl Powell said: “We’re obviously not resilient enough at the moment.

“We’re not at that level where we’re beating Saints and we’ve got to find a way to piece it together a little bit.”
