HEADS YOU WIN, CAFU TELLS ALEX

- STAY GROUNDED: FROM NICK CALLOW in Monaco

TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD has been warned not to be “a big head” if he is to fulfil his potential as one of the best players in the world.

The Liverpool right-back will be handed a key role in keeping the attacking might of Bayern Munich quiet when the two European giants clash in tomorrow’s Champions League tie.

He was man of the match when Liverpool sent Manchester City crashing in their defining first leg quarter-final win last season, and went on to represent England at the World Cup in Russia.

And now he can become a global superstar if he keeps his head screwed on, according to Brazil legend Cafu.

The South American sensation, now 48, is Brazil’s most capped player with 142 appearances. He played in four World Cups and three consecutive finals including captaining the 2002 winners.

Cafu (below) said: “To play for the England national team you have to be very good, and to play at Liverpool you have to be very, very good. But it takes times to mature and be consistent.

“I would advise him to work hard, do a lot of training, but above all show a lot of commitment to what he does. Never think that he is good enough. Don’t get complacent or big-headed. Work more and more.

“Twenty years old is a good age to make a decision if he wants to be a football player or a ‘professional’ football player with a long, respected career.”

Speaking in Monaco, where he is attending the Laureus World Sports Academy awards, Cafu said he was also delighted to see fellow Brazilian Allison starring in goal for Liverpool this season.

He added: “Thank God Brazilian goalkeepers are now learning to play with their feet as well.”
