RON FANCIES A BREAK.. IN THE JUNGLE

- BY HECTOR NUNNS

RONNIE O’SULLIVAN has sounded a ‘come and get me’ plea to reality TV show I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

The Rocket ensured a UK Championship thirdround date on his 42nd birthday tomorrow with a 6-1 win over Michael Georgiou.

And O’Sullivan, bidding for a record-equalling sixth UK title at York’s Barbican Centre, then admitted he might finally be ready to go into the jungle next year.

The five-time world champion gets bombarded with big-money offers all the time for reality TV shows, and has seen fellow snooker stars Steve Davis (right) and Jimmy White (right, centre) take the plunge.

Boxer Amir Khan (right, below) is reported to be on £400,000 for the current series.

And O’Sullivan, on fire in recent weeks with two more titles, said: “I was looking at it this year and I was thinking, ‘I have got to have a go at the jungle’.

“They look like they are having a lot of fun – you can take your family out there and have a little holiday.

“I’m starting to come around so if the price is right, as Brucie used to say, then they can talk to my agent. I’m A Celebrity, here I come.

“Although I am in an individual sport I am still a bit of a team player so it is important to bring back food from the trials.

“I love Amir Khan and think Dennis Wise has been great this year, and Toff (Made In Chelsea star Georgia Toffolo) too – they have been fantastic. And I think I am going to do it.

“I get approached all the time to do these shows and usually I say no. If I did it I would have to miss this event next year, but it’s only a tournament.

“Then again, what is the point of sitting back and thinking you don’t want to win more? That is a real loser’s attitude. “My titles this season are in the bank, they are out the way, and now it is about trying to push on and try to do something even better.” The Rocket never gave Georgiou a sniff – the Cypriot scored just one point in the opening three frames.

“I played all right but really I was there for the taking today,” said O’Sullivan. “It was just Michael could not take advantage as he was struggling a bit.

“Last year I played about 70 exhibitions, many against proper numpties – club players who couldn’t make 10 – and I lost some of my match sharpness when I did play tournaments.

“But I have cut down on those – maybe that is the difference.”
