NUNO VOW TO WOLVES AND SNUB FOR SPURS

Molineux: Tomorrow, 12 noon

- BY JAMES NURSEY

NUNO ESPIRITO SANTO claims he will honour his contract with Wolves despite being in the frame for the Tottenham job.

Wolves boss Nuno is among the favourites for the vacancy at Spurs after Jose Mourinho’s sacking.

The Portuguese coach (above) is highly rated after taking Wanderers into the top-flight and then Europe.

Nuno signed a new three-year contract in September but his superagent Jorge Mendes is believed to be considering other options away from Molineux for his client.

Wolves’ stunning progress after successive seventh-placed finishes appears to have stalled this season amid injuries and the sale of Diogo Jota.

Discussing his future, Nuno, 47, said: “I have a contract. It is my decision to sign a contract and that is what I want to say.

“When I make a decision like that there are no doubts in my mind.”

Wolves host Burnley tomorrow on the back of successive 1-0 wins over Fulham and Sheffield United. And Nuno insisted his side’s attitude should not be doubted after battling on amid a raft of injuries.

Asked about Wolves’ character, he replied: “It never went away. We had problems and tried to find solutions.

“Some of them work out immediately, some don’t. It is all about problems and solutions. Being persistent and insistent to deal with them. What I appreciate more is we have been able to deal with them as a group, without conflict.

“We realised the situation was not good and it needed the commitment of everybody. The determination, commitment, character never went away. They were willing to give everything for the club.”

Nuno is still unsure when Mexican striker Raul Jimenez (above) will be available after suffering a fractured skull in November.

He added: “He was joining us soon but we still have to wait and be patient.

“The main issue is the bone. You have to respect that and that is why we don’t allow him to head the ball. It is about the bone not about his fitness.”
