BROWN WON’T GET TOO DOWN

JORDAN BROWN has revealed he’s suffering from a Welsh Open hangover.

The world No.45 shocked the snooker world when he beat world champion Ronnie O’sullivan to land his magical maiden title just over a week ago.

But the Antrim Ferrari has crashed to successive first-round defeats since, with a frustrating 4-3 loss to Rod Lawler at the Gibraltar Open yesterday.

“It has been tough for me to come down off that huge high,” said Brown.

“Last week playing John [Higgins] at the Players Championship was one of those where you wish you had a week off in between.

“Maybe there’s still a bit of that win kicking in, but I wouldn’t swap it for anything. It’s important for me to just be positive going forward.”

Brown looked out of it at 3-1 behind after Lawler hit breaks of 75 and 64.

But the Ulster cueman forced a decider with 92 and 88 runs of his own before Lawler produced a match-winning 69 break.

Compatriot Gerard Greene was hammered 4-0 by Stuart Bingham earlier in the day.

Mark Allen faces Jamie Curtis-barrett today while Fergal O’brien locks horns with 15-year-old Iulian Boiko today and Cork teenager Aaron Hill faces Brandon Sargeant.

SWANSEA fought back to stay in the Championship promotion race with a late, late Andre Ayew winner.

The Swans had lost two of their previous three league games and didn’t want to go a goal down in six minutes at play-off chasing Stoke.

But Marc Guehi’s mistake offered the Potters an early gift, Nick Powell scoring his 11th goal of the season.

It took just 13 minutes for Swansea to recover, Connor Roberts netting from Ryan Manning’s pass.

Tommy Smith’s shot hit the post and Swans keeper Freddie Woodman saved well from Harry Souttar, but the Welsh side were in the game too with Manning looking dangerous.

Roberts was denied a late winner by Angus Gunn, but Ayew (above) grabbed all three points from the spot six minutes into time added on.
