A MUM fed up with people asking whether she was pregnant died after liposuction surgery at a Turkish clinic, an inquest heard.

Abimbola Ajoke Bamgbose, 38, told husband Moyosore Olowo that she was going on a holiday with her friends.

But the mother-of-three – who was unhappy with the way she looked – had actually paid £5,000 for cosmetic surgery.

After the op, Abimbola rang Moyosore and told him she had stomach pain.

He travelled to Turkey after being unable to contact her and found she had been rushed to hospital for more surgery.

Moyosore said: “It wasn’t until I got there the medical director told me candidly it was serious – the clinic was just telling me everything was fine.

“It was just then he confessed it had been a mistake and there had never been such a mistake before.”

Revealing why his wife wanted the treatment, he added: “When a woman is unhappy about her looks, the clothes she buys do not fit and people ask if she is pregnant because of her tummy, sometimes we are powerless. I told her

COUPLE Abimbola and husband Moyosore ‘You have three children’, I told her my tummy is bigger than hers, ‘Why are you bothered about having surgery?”’

Social worker Abimbola, of Dartford, Kent, had visited a private cosmetic surgeon in the UK but found the cost was too high for her.

The inquest heard Network Rail safety officer Moyosore did not want her going abroad for surgery.

So Abimbola lied to her husband about her reasons for travelling to Izmir, on the Aegean coast, last August.

Maidstone coroners court heard she had booked an overseas package deal with Mono Cosmetic Surgery for liposuction and a Brazilian butt lift.

A postmortem found Abimbola suffered holes to the bowel and a cause of death was given as stomach wall inflammation with multiple organ failure as a complication of liposuction surgery.

Assistant coroner Alan Blunsdon recorded a narrative conclusion, saying: “This is a tragic case. While Mrs Bamgbose was determined to have surgery, her husband did not see it as necessary.”

I said my tummy is bigger than yours, why are you worried? MOYOSORE OLOWO ABIMBOLA’S HUSBAND
