GORDON, GINO AND FRED: AMERICAN ROAD TRIP BORN TO BE DIFFERENT

-

ITV, 9pm

HITTING the highways of Mexico and the USA, this latest road trip is less Three Amigos and more Three Egos.

Gordon Ramsay, Gino D’acampo and Fred Sirieix are brilliantly entertaining as they battle to be the best in this extreme food tour.

The trio’s antics as they head to places like Las Vegas, Los Angeles,

For 20 years, Channel 4 has been filming five remarkable children, all born with disabilities. Cameras have captured every high and low during their childhoods, but now they are all grown up and must face the world as young adults.

It’s not always easy. Among them are 18-year-old Zoe, who has just completed a term at university, but everyday tasks are proving a real challenge for her.

Born with hands and feet that turn inwards, Zoe has limited movement

San Francisco, Texas and Tijuana will include wallet-busting burgers, dune buggy racing, goat yoga, spear fishing, cowboy capers, fine wines and wild wrestling.

And of course, there is plenty of bickering, bromance and ruthless mocking as they lock horns to be king of the kitchen.

It’s also the result of spending far too much time together.

It begins with what will become a familiar sight. Fred is wearing something but has decided a 13th operation might help.

“I’ve always made the decisions about my operations, that’s the only way I’ve got control over my body,” she says.

Elsewhere, it’s a devastating time for Vicky and Nick, whose 19-year-old daughter Shelbie is now battling for her life.

Born with profound mental and physical disabilities, she was never expected to live into adulthood. She has defied expectations but is now gravely ill.

Vicky says: “We know that her time is coming quite soon.” snazzy, muscles bursting out behind every button, while Gino sings a silly song and Gordon holds his head in his hands, always at his wits’ end.

They pick up their mammoth new RV, Betty the

Beast, and start in Mexico in search of the best breakfast in the world.

Within minutes there is tequila, but Gordon is not a fan.

“Those guys would drink it like it was friggin’ water.” Then Gino and Gordon have a chillitasting competition, which results in a lot of choking.

If you thought Gordon swore a lot on his other shows, well…

And that’s before we’ve got to the spear fishing, desert buggy racing and Mexican wrestling.

It’s slightly baffling how these three became friends, but who cares – it’s a winning formula.
