CAU BLIMEY!
Woodrow stuns Baggies but Pereira completes fightback
double substitution at half-time just when struggling Barnsley thought they had done enough to seal three points.
Conor Townsend and Filip Krovinovic replaced Nathan
Ferguson and Kyle
Edwards.
Initially they had little impact but, as Barnsley legs tired, they became more influential.
Barnsley could have wrapped it all up in the 55th minute but wasted a glorious opportunity to go 3-0 up. Dimitri Cavare crossed from the right but Cameron Mcgeehan could only loop his header against the bar. Baggies finally found the form that had taken them to the top of the Championship and pulled one back in the 68th minute.
It was somewhat fortunate though as Pereira’s inswinging corner was headed into his own net by defender Diaby. Then Pereira (left) met Townsend’s cross with a peach of a downward header to send The Hawthorns into raptures.
The sheer unpredictably of the Championship had been underlined by rock-bottom Barnsley in the first half.
Woodrow gave the Tykes an 18th-minute lead with the first attack of the game, glancing hopme Cavare’s cross. Six minutes later it was 2-0.
This time Woodrow lashed a superb left-footed drive into the far corner past the despairing dive of Sam Johnstone.
Bilic’s table-toppers were blown away by the Yorkshiremen, but it was no more than they deserved for a sloppy start.
Albion left the field at halftime to a chorus of boos as they trailed at The Hawthorns at the break for only the second time this season.
