Our dance didn’t feel like a four
Aston in shock.. but ‘respects’ Craig
ASTON Merrygold says he laughed in disbelief at Craig Revel Horwood’s score of four on Strictly.
The JLS singer and Janette Manrara, who had been among the favourites to win, were axed for their 70s-themed Viennese waltz
Aston, 29, revealed:
“When I watched it back I laughed at the four. I didn’t realise it was that s***.”
But he said he respected
Craig, 52 – who bowed down to
Debbie Mcgee for her perfect
40 tango – adding: “He’s in that chair, giving scores for a reason.”
Janette, 33, wept off-camera in what is being seen as the show’s biggest shock exit. Head judge Shirley Ballas’ vote sent Aston home after a dance-off against The Saturdays singer Mollie King. Aston approached Shirley later and said it was “awkward” for her.
He said it would be “unfair” if reports he was marked down on the show due to his dancing ability were true.
But he recalled judges saying they “expected really good things from you”, adding: “OK cool, are you going to judge on what you expect of me or across the board with everyone else?” Asked if he thought judges had favourites, Aston said: “I hope not.” The singer, expecting his first child with dancer Sarah Richards, said last night he plans to open a dance studio when he is a dad.
He is backing his former X Factor rival Alexandra Burke to win the show.
