Changing the record

-

cling to the wreckage. We really don’t need another one.

On to more positive things. Hopefully you are aware of Sound Of Belfast which started last Thursday and runs until this Saturday, with gigs, workshops, walking tours, industry advice amongst other things, and across

a spectrum of genres.

CELEBRATION

Part celebration of what has gone before but mostly celebration of what is here now and what music does/will do for us.

Think of the amount of artists from this country with worldwide success and then go out and see the current crop, who, with a little support, can do the same.

And the backing is needed. Go support acts who are knocking their pan in writing, recording and gigging original material, getting up there to pursue a tough and risky way to make a living.

Bands such as Snow Patrol and Dj/producer David Holmes didn’t have it handed to them, they worked for it, people got it and supported them.

There is astonishing talent in this country, a lot of acts coming through. It’s no trial to go check it out. It could change your life.

Could be a story you tell your kids of when you saw that now huge act in a small venue in Belfast or anywhere else here.

The following week, Atlantic Sessions kicks off up the North Coast. From November 16–19, you can experience the best of NI music talent in fantastic, innovative, unusual venues in one of the most beautiful parts of the country.

Details of both music festivals are online, I guarantee you will find at least five must-see gigs in each, regardless of your taste.

We do music well in this country. We love it, we live it, we breathe it. Supporting it is a small part of it. That’s how it works. There is a lot to celebrate. Get up the front!
