Does another Scotland referendum make sense?
THE one-issue SNP demands a second referendum to cover up its incompetence in governing a relatively small country, despite the ridiculous Barnett formula that allocates the Scots more money per head than the rest of the UK. Like Boris Johnson, I have always been a supporter of the Union, but I am fed up with Nicola Sturgeon and Ian Blackford’s posturing. Prime Minister, please let the separatists have their second referendum, on the understanding that the subject will not be re-addressed for at least another 30 years. If the Scots are silly enough to vote to leave, so be it, provided they assume their fair share of the national debt, accept withdrawal of the Barnett formula and lose their access to the UK Parliament.
SIMON SMITH, Margate, Kent. WITHOUT the money we give Scotland, it would become a Third World country. No more free prescriptions or free hospital parking.
HEATHER CHAYTOR, Torquay, Devon. SO A 55 per cent/45 per cent vote isn’t democratic because it wasn’t the result she wanted. Perhaps Queen Nicola should ask President Putin how he manages to hold ‘democratic’ elections and get the result he wants. A supplementary question on the ballot paper next time might be ‘Are you OK with Bitcoin being the Scottish currency?’
W. FERGUSON, Bovey Tracey, Devon. NICOLA STURGEON is delusional. An independent Scotland couldn’t survive on a handful of whisky distilleries and caravan sites.
RALPH DONCASTER, Bridgnorth, Salop. IF NICOLA STURGEON wins a second independence referendum, when will the third independence referendum be held?
