TOWIE star fighting for her life after lover dies in horror crash
THE Only Way Is Essex star Yazmin Oukhellou has been seriously injured in a horror car crash in Turkey that killed her ex-boyfriend Jake McLean.
The reality TV personality, 28, was in the passenger seat of a rented vehicle which McLean is understood to have been driving when he lost control of the steering.
The car ‘went off a cliff’, a source told the Sun Online, and emergency crews rushed to the scene in Bodrum but could not save the 33-yearold’s life. Miss Oukhellou is said to be being treated for her injuries in intensive care.
‘It’s a complete tragedy and a total loss of life,’ an insider told MailOnline. ‘Everyone is in shock and is hoping Yazmin makes a full recovery.’
The pair are said to have started dating last year, with both of them living in Dubai. They apparently confirmed their romance on Instagram in December with pictures from a romantic evening out.
They reportedly separated in January after McLean was spotted leaving a club with former Love Island contestant Ellie Jones. Miss Jones’s representatives have previously branded the allegations ‘completely untrue’. It is not known if the couple had rekindled while in Turkey.
Miss Oukhellou, who studied at Newcastle University, shot to fame when she joined TOWIE in 2017 with her then boyfriend James Lock. She has recently finished filming on the reality show’s latest series, which was shot in the Dominican Republic. The TOWIE Twitter page confirmed a new series of the popular show on June 7.
McLean, who dated former TOWIE star Lauren Goodger, was jailed for three and a half years in 2008, for conning his way into a mother’s house before a masked gang raided the property.
The crash is not the only tragedy to strike the muchloved reality show. Last year, TOWIE’s Mick Norcross ended his life. He was found dead at his home in Bulphan in Essex on January 21.
The 57-year-old had taken out a £3.6million bank loan and a bridging loan, Chelmsford Coroner’s Court heard.
Mr Norcross was the father of former Towie star Kirk Norcross, and rose to fame as the owner of Brentwood’s Sugar Hut nightclub.
