Relief from painful stomach flare-ups

-

SINCE her teens, Carol Williams has suffered gastrointestinal discomfort, worsening in her 50s. She says: ‘During flare-ups, my symptoms are so severe that I can hardly tolerate the pain.’ She was desperate to find something that would help — and, after seeing a newspaper advert for colloidal silicic acid, asked her GP if it was okay to take it with her arthritis medications. It was, so Carol (right), 74, from Maltby, tried it, taking a tablespoon three times a day. ‘We were due a holiday in Spain, giving me a month to check the gel was going to work for me and wouldn’t affect my regular blood tests,’ she explains. ‘It eased my symptoms so well that I took a bottle on holiday’ Carol adds: ‘Since then I’ve had more than five years of relief from the miserable symptoms that I used to experience daily — it’s absolutely incredible. ‘I now take a maintenance dose of one tablespoonful a day. But if I feel anything building up, I’ll take more. ‘I have less pain, less flatulence and my digestion is much more comfortable.’ Before taking silicic acid gel, Carol was reluctant to commit to social engagements in case she became unwell. ‘It’s so nice now to be in control of my symptoms. My husband used to do all the shopping, but now I can go with him and also enjoy family get-togethers. I am far more sociable, so we can go to our local pub for a meal and to meet up with friends.’ Users of silicic acid, in a colloidal and hydrated gel form, typically report relief from their symptoms, feeling in control of their lives again and being able to exercise, take simple trips to the shops, and accept invitations to family events. Silicic acid gel is available from Boots, Tesco, Holland & Barrett, Lloyds Pharmacy and independent pharmacies and health stores.
