LOCKSDOWN!
Liz Hurley’s long-haired son Damian turns 18 – but he can’t go out and party
But at least Damian Hurley managed to mark the occasion – even in lockdown.
Damian, son of Elizabeth Hurley, raised a glass as he enjoyed a muted celebration with his mother and grandmother at their Herefordshire home on Saturday night.
The previous evening, the model had posted a picture of himself in a dressing gown, clutching a mug of tea. He wrote that ‘isolation drastically altered the plans for my last night as a minor’.
On his birthday, Damian – who bears a striking resemblance to his mother – wrote: ‘IT’S DAMIAN DAY! Finally 18!!!
‘It felt too strange to celebrate properly during such a terrible time out in the wider world.’
Actress and model Miss Hurley, 54, paid tribute to her son, whose father is US businessman Steve Bing, calling him the ‘light of my life’ and sharing old photographs on her Instagram account. They included one of Damian in his primary school uniform with Miss Hurley and her ex-husband Arun Nayar.
The teenager has been in isolation with his mother, grandmother, an elderly aunt and some friends of Miss Hurley.
‘Day 11 of my family’s lockdown in Herefordshire and I finally washed my hair, put on some make up and found time to post,’ Miss Hurley wrote on Instagram last week. ‘In these scary times I feel incredibly lucky to live in the countryside and have lots of outside space.
‘As well as my son, I have seven other people living with me including my 79-year-old mother and her sister – also in her late 70s – and one of my best friends who is in the highest risk group with severe respiratory problems. Keeping everyone as safe as possible (and fed) is a full time job. We all are full of the highest admiration for our wonderful NHS staff and are doing everything we can to not add to their burden.’
Miss Hurley has admitted that her son becoming an adult could prompt a ‘midlife crisis’ for her.
She said of Damian: ‘Being an only child of a single mother has meant that we have spent a great deal of time together.’
