Now Simon Danczuk is trying to move on – by romancing a selfie-loving Labour councillor!
The Labour MP, 48, was spotted strolling arm in arm along the Brighton sea-front with 31-year-old Claire Hamilton on the final night of the Labour conference.
The pair happily posed for a photographer before attending a party together where they were pictured kissing.
Miss Hamilton, a borough councillor in Lancashire, was coy when asked if she was in a relationship with the Rochdale MP following Tuesday night’s shenanigans.
‘That’s a rude question,’ she giggled when approached by the Daily Mail, adding: ‘I’m going to have a coffee now. My feet are very tired from all the dancing last night.’
But Mr Danczuk later confirmed they were together, telling a reporter: ‘Claire and I are seeing each other. We are really good friends and now we are in the early stages of dating.’
The backbencher added that he hoped for a speedy divorce from estranged wife Karen Danczuk, 32, a former Rochdale councillor who became notorious for posting selfies displaying her cleavage on Twitter.
‘We are going through a divorce, and the sooner the better,’ Mr Danczuk told the Evening Standard when asked about his marriage.
Miss Hamilton is also a prolific user of social media and spent her week in Brighton posing for selfies with senior Labour figures including Lord Mandelson, Commons deputy speaker Lindsay Hoyle, and comedian Eddie Izzard. The mother of a young daughter, she was the youngest councillor in the country when first elected aged 21.
She became known as a ‘ Blair babe’ and was pictured with the then prime minister at the 2005 party conference, later describing him as ‘ very friendly and approachable’.
On Twitter she describes herself as a ‘Proud Mum, Labour Councillor-Leyland Central ward, Farington Parish Cllr ... Unison member, Cynical optimist’.
Mr Danczuk had a very public split from his ‘selfie addict’ wife this summer.
The couple, who have two sons, traded insults on Twitter amid claims – strenuously denied – that she had an affair and that he had been bad-tempered and drinking too much during the last months of their marriage.
Mr Danczuk later described himself as ‘ devastated’ by the break-up, but added that ‘life has to go on’.
At the weekend Mrs Danczuk said they were now getting on better than they ever did when they were together.
Last night, she posted a provocative new picture of herself (top right) in her lingerie on Twitter, saying: ‘I need to eat but this bed is sooooo comfy. I don’t want to move!!! KD.’
