Too steamy! Train pair’s sex acts on the 9.18pm to Clacton

- By Andrew Levy

WHEN Allison Jennings and Gavin Maguire met, it was lust at first sight.

But the couple’s desire landed them in court after they were unable to restrain themselves and got amorous on a packed train – on the day they met.

Horrified passengers, including families with young children, reported them to staff after being subjected to their groping and groaning.

The pair gave themselves in when British Transport Police released CCTV footage of the smirking pair leaving the train after the 30minute journey.

Both have now been convicted of outraging public decency after admitting the charges.

Jennings, 39, quit her job as a national sales manager at a credit insurance company shortly after an image of her grinning as she walked off the carriage was made public.

Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court heard how the couple were seen performing sex acts on each other on the 9.18pm service from London Liverpool Street to Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, on Sunday June 7.

Prosecutor Kathy Wilson said a female passenger noticed the pair ‘acting in a wholly inappropriate sexual manner’ before the train had even left the platform.

Jennings was leaning against 40-year- old bald businessman Maguire’s chest while he had his hand on her lap. Mrs Wilson said the

‘He had drunk a lot of alcohol’

witness ‘commented that the female seemed to be enjoying what was going on’.

Another woman near the pair described how Jennings later had her dress ‘hitched up around her waist’ while Maguire’s hands were on her bottom. Jennings then began ‘making loud noises’ before bouncing up and down on his lap.

At that point, a man sitting near the couple got up and said, ‘I’ve seen enough’ before walking away.

A family with children aged between eight and 11 boarded the train at Stratford in East London but moved to a different carriage when the mother realised what was going on.

When the train pulled into Chelmsford station the pair got off ‘as if nothing had happened’. Maguire, of Chigwell, Essex, even appeared to give a thumbs up to someone as he sauntered off.

During his police interview, he said he had met Jennings that the day and they had drunk a lot of alcohol. He admitted ‘touching her all over’ and was aware of other passengers in the carriage, but denied having sex.

Jennings, of Chelmsford, Essex, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing and had already been given a 12-month conditional discharge.

Maguire, who admitted the charge yesterday, was ordered to do 100 hours of unpaid work and fined £180 plus £80 court costs.

David Barbone, defending Maguire, said his client had drunk a lot of alcohol during a ‘ convivial’ day out, but was ‘ horrified’ by his actions and apologised ‘unreservedly’.

He added: ‘The British Trans- port Police officers recognised that the matter could be dealt with by way of a caution rather than court proceedings but the Crown Prosecution Service sees it differently.’

Chairman of the bench Walter Hall said: ‘This is totally disgraceful behaviour and is aggra- vated by the fact that it took place on a public train in front of parents and children.

‘At the end of the day, we have a duty to those who were, frankly, disgusted by your behaviour.’

It’s not known if the couple ever had a second date.
