SHOP SMART, SAVE MONEY 7PM, CH5

Our morning coffees are costing close to £4 a pop in some high-street chains, which adds up to a whopping £4 billion a year spent on our caffeine habit. Gaby Roslin and Ortis Deley explore how to get the barista experience at home for a fraction of the cost. Also in the consumer testing laboratory tonight are kitchen knives, hiking boots and Bluetooth headphones.

THE REPAIR SHOP 8PM, BBC1

Will Neil Scott’s vintage racing spikes turn to dust when master cobbler Dean attempts to repair them? ‘The leather’s so dry, I’m almost scared to work with it.’ That’s just the kind of challenge that makes this show so great, especially when you see the joy the finished shoes bring to 90-year-old Neil, who was running to victory in them in the 1940s. We also follow the restorations of a bulldog waiter statue who’s a tactile treat for his blind owner, a much-loved oil painting, and a barrel organ owned by a whole town.

AIR FRYERS: DO YOU HAVE THE RIGHT ONE?

8PM, CH5 Another hour of airtime given over to the much-hyped kitchen gadget? This is presumably aimed at people who didn’t see Ch5’s other programmes on air fryers, and promises to start with a tongue-incheek look at the endless fascination with these ‘outta space’ appliances (above). Alexis Conran then opens a surgery to answer all your burning air fryer questions.

AMBULANCE 9PM, BBC1

★★★

It’s the final episode in the current run of the Bafta-winning documentary series, and we follow trainee call handler Sairah, who does not get eased in gently when she answers calls for the first time. Shifting between multiple incidents at multiple locations, we return to Sairah as she nears the end of her training. She’s been dreading calls to do with children, childbirth or cardiac arrests. You can guess what happens next.
