Flying To The Ends Of The Earth
8PM, CH4 In the second episode, former Marine turned daredevil pilot Arthur Williams sets a course for the Fiji islands in the South Pacific. After learning to catch fish by hand in a coral reef at the luxury retreat of Wadigi, Arthur heads for the islands of Vanuatu, where he joins a flying doctor on his rounds – and is reminded of the miracle of anaesthetic. Then, he’s back in the plane and taking his life in his hands, attempting to land on the slopes of an active volcano on the island of Tanna. In case you’ve forgotten, by the way, Arthur is paralysed from the waist down…

Talking to some of the 34 (at last count) residents, Anita finds out just what it is that makes island life so appealing – apart from the stunning coastline with its wide-open beaches, of course.
