OAP knifed to death on mobility scooter

- By Helen Bennicke

A MAN in his 80s on a mobility scooter was stabbed to death in a horrific attack yesterday.

Police and paramedics were unable to save the pensioner, who has not been identified.

Officers were working last night to find and inform his family.

Emergency crews found the fatally injured OAP next to the A40 Western Avenue, near South Greenford station, west London, shortly after 4pm.

The Metropolitan Police has urged people with dashcam or cycle helmet footage between 3.15pm and 4.15pm to contact them.

Det Chief Insp Jim Eastwood, from the force’s specialist crime command, said: “My officers are working to understand what has happened to this man. If you saw the victim, or captured anyone acting suspiciously in the area, it is imperative that you make contact.”

Ealing policing lead, Chief Supt Sean Wilson, said: “This is an awful incident that will understandably cause considerable alarm.

“The support of the public is crucial. Police and the community must work together to identify violent offenders and remove them from our streets.”

Police said there were long delays along the A40. Meanwhile, armed police were yesterday searching for a gunman who wounded a 17-year-old boy, a 21-year-old man and a man in his early 20s in Brent, northwest London.

The shootings on Monday night are the latest in a series of firearms incidents in the capital.

Kacey Boothe, 25, was killed in a “targeted attack” in Walthamstow, east London, on Saturday night.

The Yard was investigating two separate firearms incidents in nearby Hackney when Mr Boothe was killed outside a community centre holding a tot’s first birthday party.
