PC Plod no longer protects the public

-

ICANNOT believe how feeble and hopeless the police have become. Their job is to protect the public and occasionally some very brave officers will give their lives to do just that, but in general public protection plays second fiddle to political correctness. The protesters who are currently blocking the M25 know darn well that their actions are not going to change any ministerial minds or persuade any members of the public to back their cause, but are still willing to hold up traffic, including emergency vehicles, without any compunction for the sick or suffering. And what do the police do? Offer to relieve their discomfort.

When the boys in blue do stir themselves to make arrests they simply release the culprits without charge in most cases, including those where the same person has been arrested time after time.

The latest incident involves an elderly stroke victim, left paralysed after it took her son six hours to get her to hospital.

WHAT do the protesters care? Nothing. They have their normal mobility so to Hades with everyone else. What do the police care? Nothing. It is more important to be nice to protesters than to look after the public whose taxes pay their wages.

Supposing that poor soul had been your mother, officer.Would you have cared then?

The police should clear the roads of all demonstrators, charge them and keep them in custody without polite enquiries about their discomfort and the courts should sentence them to many hours of unpaid community service. Some movement towards this occurred on Friday, after the Home Secretary demanded action but why on earth did the police wait until that demand had been made and why did they then release so many without charge? The right to demonstrate is essential to democracy but there is no right to do so in a way which causes pain, suffering or even death. Perhaps that poor paralysed lady should sue both the leaders of the demonstration and the police.

Chief constables hate the prospect of paying damages.

A POOR little mite of two slipped off her horse during a hunt outing and was trampled by her own pony. She was not of course part of an actual hunt but what on earth was a toddler doing out on public roads on horseback?

No matter how “bomb-proof” a pony, there will always be the danger of a sudden move if it is jostled by another animal or suddenly puts its head down to rub an itch and no tot should be mounted unless continuously and firmly held by an adult. I’m all for infants being taught to ride but in a quiet field and always with an adult within instant grabbing distance. Anything else should be against the law.
