Peake viewing as Tim and stars give TV tips for locked down kids

CHILDREN will get a science lesson from astronaut Tim Peake, PE from England striker Marcus Rashford and improve their creative writing with Geri Horner in a new BBC series.

Famous names will deliver lockdown lessons from their homes for CBBC show Celebrity Supply Teacher.

Other stars lending expertise will be football pundit Gary Lineker teaching Spanish and chef Heston Blumenthal on making a perfect strawberry sundae.

BBC’s The Greatest Dancer judge Matthew Morrison will also share expertise on musical theatre, while singer Kelis will reveal some of her cookery tips.

Loosely based around the primary curriculum, the shows will cover topics including science, English, maths, history, cookery and dance in a fun way.

The series kicks off on June 8 with former Spice Girl and author of children’s books Geri Horner offering advice on characters, settings and plots.

She will also show viewers around her farm and the animals she often draws on for inspiratio­n. Geri said: “Writing is a passion, so sharing the power of words on CBBC was a lot of fun.”

Astronaut Tim Peake will talk about how to survive in space including how to eat, drink and go to the toilet.

From his back garden he will demonstrat­e the science behind spaceships using household materials to create a rocket and launcher.

Manchester United and England star Marcus Rashford will demonstrat­e stretches and warm up drills for sport.

And chef Heston Blumenthal will explain the difference between taste and flavour. He said: “I made a strawberry ice cream sundae which I hope inspires younger viewers and their families to begin a deeper relationsh­ip with food.” Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker will introduce CBBC viewers to Spanish after learning the language when he played for Barcelona.

He said: “Learning Spanish helped me then and ever since. It’s exciting!”

Dame Darcey Bussell will demonstrat­e traditiona­l African dance moves while Ricky Wilson, lead singer of the Kaiser Chiefs and former art teacher, will advise viewers how they can improve their painting and drawing. Other guests include presenter Martin Bashir and former Labour MP Ed Balls.
