TV’s Nick shocked at claims made by wife
TV PRESENTER Nick Knowles flew into Britain yesterday from Los Angeles for crunch talks with his estranged wife after she launched a bitter Twitter rant claiming years of “emotional cruelty and physical abuse”.
Friends of the DIY SOS frontman, 55, say he is “devastated” by Jessica Rose Moor’s accusations which he claims are false.
A source said last night: “Nick is mortified and terribly confused about these preposterous allegations.”
Nick and Jessica, whose son Eddie is three, are in the middle of a divorce.
Her allegations were made in an explosive online statement in which she also claimed the star had refused to pay for their child’s education.
Jessica is reportedly receiving £4,000 a month as part of their settlement – but is demanding an extra £2,000 a month.
The source close to Nick said: “Nick has always tried to do the right thing. They went on holiday to Barbados recently and Nick is trying to keep this civilised.
“He has even welcomed Jessica’s new boyfriend into the family.
“He already pays Jessica a lot of money every month but she still wants a further £2,000 each time. And he prefers to pay school fees directly himself.”
The source added: “Jessica is going out of her way to tarnish his reputation which could damage his wage-earning potential in the future. He’s at his wits’ end over this.”
Up until late last year Jessica was writing blogs for Hello Magazine.
In one she said she had had a “wonderful” day with Nick and Eddie at Leeds Castle.
Disappointing
The source added: “Nick can’t understand why she talks about a wonderful time one minute and claims emotional cruelty the next.
“Jessica only changed when she was told she would not be getting any more money.”
Jessica, 30, hit out in a tirade to her 5,800 Twitter followers last week.
She said that she cannot afford to fight for their son’s education and added: “My husband has also said he will not purchase a house or give a settlement of any kind for us.
“This is disappointing but not unexpected – some people’s generosity is only present in front of TV cameras.” The source went on: “Nick’s lawyers are working around the clock to come to an agreement. It should hopefully come very soon.
“Nick is desperate to draw a line under the whole sorry saga for the sake of everyone.”
The spat only broke out in recent weeks. Nick and Jessica married in a ceremony in Rome in 2012, but announced their separation in January 2016, following almost four years of marriage.
Jessica had previously credited Nick for “saving her life” following a cancer battle. In June 2016, she was diagnosed with stage one cervical cancer and had to have her cervix and pelvic lymph nodes removed.
She and Nick gave their marriage another shot, but finally ended things for good last December.
In a magazine interview last year, Jessica insisted there was “no hostility” between herself and Nick, explaining: “We were married and very in love, but communication broke down.
“The important thing is we really tried to make it work, so when we came out of it there wasn’t anger.”
Nick is father to three other children, sons Charlie and Tyrian-J and daughter Tuesday.
