EU BOSS JUNCKER AND HIS CRONIES WANT CORBYN TO BE PRIME MINISTER

TOP Eurocrat Jean-Claude Juncker wants Jeremy Corbyn to become Prime Minister because he believes the Labour leader will undo Brexit, voters have been warned.

The president of the European Commission and his cronies think Mr Corbyn would be a “prisoner” of Remainers if he grabs power after tomorrow’s election, according to Brussels sources.

The news follows previous concerns about Mr Juncker interfering in the election after his office was accused of briefing against Theresa May.

According to reports in Brussels, there is also a “widespread belief” that senior figures in the Labour leadership, including shadow home secretary Diane Abbott, shadow Brexit secretary Sir Keir Starmer and shadow foreign secretary Emily Thornberry, all want Britain to remain in the EU.

To become Prime Minister, Mr Corbyn would likely need the support of the SNP and Liberal Democrats, both of whom are opposed to leaving the EU and want last year’s historic referendum result reversed.

Tory MEP David Campbell Bannerman said: “There’s no doubt that President Juncker would vote for Corbyn as he knows the negotiations would suit the EU’s aims. Billions would be lost, and Brexit itself would be in danger.”

Over the weekend, Brexit Secretary David Davis laid the issue on the line, warning that the election vote was “the last chance to save Brexit”.

Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson also told the Daily Express that, as Prime Minister, Mr Corbyn would have Lib Dem leader Tim Farron and SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon as two “Remainer parrots” on his shoulders “squawking in his ears”.

Mr Juncker appeared to set out from the start of the election campaign to undermine Mrs May. After a dinner with the Prime Minister, a briefing, which appeared to come from Mr Juncker’s office, was put out giving a “distorted” account of the discussions.

Brussels sources told a German newspaper that the meeting had been a “disaster” and that Mr Juncker told Mrs May: “I’m leaving Downing Street 10 times more sceptical than I was before.”

Mr Juncker then sparked fresh anger when he used a press conference in Florence to insult Britain further, claiming he would speak in French because “English is losing importance in Europe”.

Mrs May said: “Britain’s negotiating position in Europe has been misrepresented in the continental press.

“Threats against Britain have been issued by European politicians and officials.

“All of these acts have been deliberately timed to affect the result of the General Election.”
