WILL GEORGE AND CHARLOTTE STEAL THE SHOW ON AUNT PIPPA’S WEDDING DAY?

- By Richard Palmer Royal Correspondent

PRINCE George and Princess Charlotte will be a pageboy and bridesmaid at the wedding of their aunt Pippa Middleton to financier James Matthews next month.

The bride-to-be and her fiance confirmed their choice yesterday in a brief statement issued through Kensington Palace because of the Royal Family’s involvement in the ceremony.

Prince Harry as well as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be in attendance at what is expected to be the society wedding of the year at St Mark’s Church in Englefield, Berkshire, on Saturday, May 20.

It is not yet clear if Harry’s girlfriend, the US actress Meghan Markle, is on the guest list but it is thought unlikely she will attend and risk overshadowing the bride on her big day.

The Reverend Nick WynneJones at St Mark’s will officiate at the wedding ceremony, the church confirmed. The Cambridge and Oxford-educated Anglican, a prominent evangelical in the Church of England, is a friend of the Middleton family.

They worship at the 12th century church on the private Englefield estate, even though there are a couple of churches nearer to their home in the village of Bucklebury, six miles away.

James, 41, a hedge fund manager, got down on bended knee to propose to Pippa, 33, during a trip to the Lake District last July. They had been dating for less than a year but had moved in together. A thrilled Pippa was said to have been totally surprised by the proposal.

Pippa, a socialite and sometime author and columnist, leapt into public consciousness in 2011 when she was her sister’s bridesmaid in a figure-hugging Alexander McQueen dress at the royal wedding.
