Popular gym to close and sell off all its equipment
MANAGER URGES MEMBERS NOT TO TAKE OUT THEIR ANNOYANCE ON STAFF
A BUSY Coventry gym is set to close its doors for good - and has urged members not to take their disappointment out on staff.
Simply Gym in Cannon Park will permanently shut next Friday, July 1. The reason behind the closure has not been announced, but an unnamed employee has claimed that staff will be made redundant.
A statement posted on Instagram reads: “As you are aware we will be closing our doors for the final time on 1st July”.
Gym-enthusiasts will be given the chance to purchase a selection of equipment including weights, treadmills and exercise bikes.
“We currently have some gym equipment from our site for sale. For more information please at our reception or email r.mistry@simplygym. co.uk. Collection will be available from Thursday, 7th July”, the statement added.
Further details about the closure were shared on Facebook by their ‘sister club’ Simply Gym, Earl Place.
General manager Paul said: “As you know, come the 1st July at 5pm Cannon Park will close its doors once and for all.
“First of all, let me start by asking members not to take it out on the staff for the closure. They have done nothing wrong and also are in a worse position than any of us. Please show some respect to them and come and speak to myself (Paul GM) or (Rik GM at CP) if you have any serious concerns.” He added: “We do not expect our club to get overly crowded because of the closure, so please do not worry about being able to get a good workout done. This being said, we will see an uptake in new members. Myself and Kerry (studio coordinator) have looked at our timetable and made a few adjustments that will come in from the 4th July.
“As much as we would love to put every class that Cannon Park had on the timetable, this, unfortunately, is not possible. Many instructors have lost classes and many members will lose classes they love. This makes us sad but we have to continue trying our best to provide what we feel will work for our club.”
Members of Simply Gym in Cannon Park expressed their disappointment at the closure. Jo Church said: “I am definitely very sad about CP closure, but looking at this as a great way to try new things and shaking up my weekly routine a bit.” Melanie Newton said: “Great, honest post Paul. I cannot believe people are upsetting staff over CP closure, that is so unfair. It was as much a shock for them as it was for us. Hopefully, in the future, you will be able to add more of our favourite classes.”
