Pundit picks Sky Blues trio in team

THREE Coventry City players have made Sam Parkin’s League One team of the season – with the EFL pundit saying two more Sky Blues were “unlucky” to miss out.

Former Swindon and Luton striker Parkin, a pundit on Quest’s coverage of the EFL, named goalkeeper Marko Marosi, centre-back Michael Rose, and central midfielder Liam Walsh in his best 11 for the campaign.

However, he did admit that right-back Fankaty Dabo – City’s player of the season – and manager Mark Robins were unfortunate not to make the cut.

Instead of Dabo, Parkin opted for Sunderland’s Luke O’nien in a right-wing-back

City goalkeeper Marko Marosi role, while Gareth Ainsworth, of play-off winners Wycombe, got the nod for the division’s best manager.

Parkin said: “Some tough choices. Before the criticism ramps up... Mark Robins, Daniel Iversen, Fankaty Dabo, Harry Souttar, Cameron Brannagan, Ben Whiteman and Chris Maguire all very close to making my cut!

“I can’t have the whole Cov team! Robins and Dabo are unlucky absolutely, but you can make a strong case for Ainsworth/o’nien too!

“O’nien was very good every time I saw him and [Joe] Jacobsen scored 11 goals from left-back including the winner at Wembley!

“Dabo has been great but I can’t have the whole team and went for who’s impressed me most!”

City fans could not believe that Parkin had left out Dabo. One fan on Twitter said: “I’m sorry but how has Luke O’nein got in over Dabo?”

Another replied saying “Dabo and Robins should be swapped for O’nien and Ainsworth.”
