WHO Matthew Tidman MILES 82,000 PROVENANCE In family 28 years MODS CD player HOW MANY LEFT? 149 on road

-

It’s been in our family for nearly 28 years, passing to me in September 2014. It came from a specialist dealer in Leamington Spa and cost £9680 plus my mother’s year-old Metro 1.3 Sport in partexchange. There was only one previous owner. It even came with a choice of private registration numbers, one of which remains on the car today. The dealer also gave my brother a toy 924, which he still has. My mother keeps telling me to sell the car but where would I find another like it? It’s insured with an £8000 agreed value.

HOW MUCH HISTORY?

I know the full history from day one, when it was sold by Howells Motors in Cardiff, which took an A-registration 924 in part-exchange. It has a fully stamped-up service book – in fact it’s had so many services that it’s on its second book now! The car goes into Porsche specialist Two Plus Two in the West Midlands every year for a service and whatever else they think needs doing. They’ve looked after the car since we bought it. It passes its MoT every year with no issues due to all the maintenance and has proved totally reliable. The mileage is genuine – the car had a new speedometer at 55,000 miles, but I kept the old one.

WHAT’S LEFT TO DO ON IT?

Nothing for now. The interior is like new with no wear showing anywhere – even the rear boot canopy still works. The exterior is also in excellent condition, with just a few minor stone chips, but the paint is all original.

HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?

Only a CD/radio after the original cassette player packed up years ago.
