High fives all round for Pupils under-14s team

GDYFL - Under 14s Div 2 OLA 1 Pupils Youth 5

Following last week’s home game postponement Campbeltown Pupils 2009s (under 14s) faced another away trip, this time playing at the Toryglen Regional Football Centre against OLA.

The opening exchanges were fairly even, with both teams taking time to settle, and it was the Pupils who made the breakthrough midway through the half with a neat finish from Kadyn Prentice.

Goal scorer turned provider soon after when Kadyn Prentice’s drilled corner was attacked by Logan Norris to deflect the ball home with the assistance of an OLA defender – the Pupils defender claiming the goal in no uncertain terms.

The Pupils were now well on top, and goal number three came when Robert Kerr’s shot was well saved by the OLA keeper, only to see Jack Green react quickly to follow up on the rebound for a tidy finish.

OLA clawed their way back into the game five minutes before half time with a breakaway goal and a clinical finish.

Right on the half-time whistle the Pupils restored their three-goal lead – Kadyn Prentice again was the provider, with a slide rule pass for Jack Green to score his second goal with an emphatic finish into the roof of the net.

The second half followed the same pattern as the first, with the Pupils well on top and looking to add to their lead.

Goal number five was the pick of the bunch – a brilliant first touch from Kadyn Prentice setting himself up for an instinctive lob over the goalkeeper from the edge of the box.

OLA to their credit continued to battle away, and it took two excellent saves from substitute Charlie Colville, making his competitive goalkeeping debut, to keep the score at 5-1.

A great win for the Pupils 09s and they hope to build on this with a home game this Sunday against North Kelvin.
