‘Stumdwy in unbelievable match with 6 penalties

-

LLANLLYFNI paid a heavy penalty, literally, as they went down to an 11-1 loss at Llanystumdwy in the Gwynedd League.

Stumdwy, who sit in fifth in the standings, were awarded six penalties in all in their home clash against bottom of the table Llyfni, who actually took the lead through Sion Huws’ sixth minute effort.

However, Sion Parry replied from the spot on 18 minutes, before efforts from Rhys Hughes and Brad Williams gave the home side a two-goal cushion.

Parry added a second penalty on 38 minutes, while Carwyn Roberts made it 5-1 and Joe Soar added a sixth 10 minutes after the break, two minutes after Parry completed his hat-trick with a third penalty.

Parry added two further penalties on 85 and 89 minutes, but notched a double hat-trick with a sixth effort of the afternoon – amazingly just one effort coming from open play – while Iwan Richards was also successful with a spot-kick.

Bontnewydd remain in touch with leaders Bro Goronwy after sealing a 4-1 win at Llangoed.

Victory sees Bont remain four points adrift of the table toppers, who ran out 3-1 winners at home over Beaumaris.

Gareth Edwards put Bont ahead on 21 minutes, before Sion Morris levelled little after the half hour mark. But Edwards needed only two minutes to restore the visitors lead while Aled Steele ensured the victory with efforts in the 79th and 80th minutes.

Waunfawr were grateful to an Elis Povey late effort to ensure a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw at Nefyn United.

Povey struck on 87 minutes to cancel out a brace of first half efforts from Danny Roberts, before Tomos Owen replied five minutes before the break from the penalty spot for the Beganifs.

Talysarn Celts home clash with Holyhead Town was postponed.
