Fire station will be open for people to get Covid jabs

-

BURTON residents are being given the chance to get their Covid-19 jab at a walk-in clinic being held at Burton Community Fire Station on Friday.

The fire station, in Moor Street, will be opening its doors between 10.30am and 3.30pm to people aged 16 or over who are eligible to receive their first or second dose of the Moderna or Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine.

An NHS vaccination team will be staffing the walk-in clinic and anyone wanting the jab can just turn up on the day, with no appointment needed. People wanting their second dose of Moderna or Pfizer vaccine must have waited a minimum of eight weeks after having their first vaccination and bring along proof of having it.

Dr Paddy Hannigan, clinical lead for the vaccination programme. said: “We are keen to encourage more people in the Burton area

to get vaccinated and would urge anyone in the town who is eligible and has not yet received a jab to come along to this walk-in clinic at Burton Community Fire Station.

“It is vitally important that as many people as possible receive their full Covid-19 vaccine, both for their own health but also for the safety of loved ones and the wider community, so we want to make it as easy possible for everyone who is eligible to get both doses.

“We understand that for some people making an appointment on weekdays or committing to a time in general may be difficult or inconvenient, so to help we have introduced walk-in clinics.”

Up-to-date details and times for all Staffordshire Covid-19 vaccination walk-in clinics, including those being held at local fire stations, can be found at https://www.twbstaffsandstoke. org.uk/coronavirus/how-to-get-avaccine-where-and-travelling

Patients who are eligible for a vaccine can also book an appointment at another vaccination site by calling 119 or visiting https://www.nhs.uk

Organisers are keen to stress this walk-in clinic is being run by the NHS using the fire stations as a location - therefore do not contact the fire stations or the fire service with any queries about appointments.
