Get a move on to benefit from homes tax break
HANDFUL OF PROPERTIES LEFT AS DEADLINE NEARS
YOU’LL have to move fast if you want to live on a new housing development in Burton, as well as one by the same developer in Derbyshire.
Just a handful of properties remain at Shepherd’s Rest in Forest Road, Burton, and Doveridge Park in Doveridge, according to David Wilson Homes.
All priced below the £500,000 threshold, they will benefit from the Chancellor’s stamp duty holiday that is due to end on March 31, saving thousands of pounds for the buyers.
Rishi Sunak brought in the measure last summer to help keep the housing market buoyant through the pandemic.
A spokesman for the developer said with the end of the tax break looming, potential buyers looking to settle down “must act swiftly” to secure one of the remaining homes at Shepherd’s Rest or Doveridge Park.
There is a single two-bedroom home available at Doveridge Park priced at £194,995, while Shepherd’s Rest has four-bedroom properties available from £334,995.
Rachael Harrison, sales director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “The deadline of the stamp duty holiday is fast approaching and we’re expecting to see a large number of prospective buyers meeting New Year’s resolutions early by securing a new home. We’d encourage keen homebuyers to make an appointment with our sales advisers.”
A spokesman for the company added: “Both of David Wilson Homes’ developments offer new homebuyers a peaceful setting close to useful commuter links and doorstep amenities, whilst the handpicked locations ensure growing families have a selection of highly rated schooling options available.”
Earlier this year David Wilson Homes unveiled a new play area for children of families who live on the estate. The developer said then it hoped youngsters will have fun at the new play area which features a slide, swings, and climbing apparatus.
Rachael Harrison said at the time: “We have a number of young residents at Shepherd’s Rest who will be eager to enjoy the new play area and we’re delighted to have delivered this brand new facility.”
As part of the agreement for the development, David Wilson Homes has handed over £1.5 million for the local community, which includes more than £750,000 towards education for all ages.
