MP voices approval as Brewhouse receives £51,500 government grant
AN MP has welcomed the news that Burton’s Brewhouse Arts Centre has been awarded £51,565 through the Government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund (CRF).
This funding will help the centre face the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic and to ensure it has a sustainable future, the Department for Culture, Media & Sport has announced.
The Brewhouse is one of 588 cultural and creative organisations across the country receiving a share of the £76m investment, as part of a vital financial boost from the second round of the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund grants programme administered by Arts Council England.
The Brewhouse Arts Centre in Union Street, Burton is owned and operated by East Staffordshire
Brough Council and offers a range of theatre shows, stand up comedy along with art classes for all ages. .
Kate Griffiths MP said: “This has been a difficult period for all those working in the arts and entertainment industry with large gatherings particularly curtailed. I met with the Culture Secretary this week to highlight the importance of supporting events and those working in the sector.
“I am pleased today that the Culture Secretary has announced that the Brewhouse in Burton is to benefit from the second round of funding from the Culture Recovery
Fund programme. “
Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said: “This is more vital funding to protect cultural gems across the country, save jobs and prepare the arts to bounce back. Through Arts Council England we are delivering the biggest ever investment in the arts in record time. Hundreds of millions of pounds are already making their way to thousands of organisations.”
