Coupar Angus boss targets improved league position

Coupar Angus manager Logan McConachie is targeting a top half finish in the North Division this season.

The Foxhall Park boss has been busy recruiting over the summer and believes his squad is now fully prepared for the challenge.

Improving on last season’s 10th place is the aim and McConachie said: “Pre-season has been a breeze compared to last year.

“We had done a lot of prep work at the end of last season and have hit the ground running.

“We’ve brought in six really experienced players who know what’s expected to compete at this level.

“We expect to be battling for a top half finish, obviously it’s early days but we’re ready to get going.

“I think I’ve learned a lot personally, mostly about the league and style of football.

“I’ve built my team this year on how to compete with the top teams, whereas before we were focused on getting a team together last year.

“The three of us know all of the players in our squad really well.

“We are determined to make them winners.”

Coupar make the trip to Dundee on Saturday for their season-opening clash with Lochee Harp.

McConachie added: “Our games against Lochee Harp last year always had goals in them.

“So hopefully it will be similar on our part, but our new defensive additions will tighten us up at the back.”

Kick-off in Dundee is 2.30pm.
