New bench in memory of Harlow

- Clare Damodaran

A wooden bench has been installed on the Common in Coupar Angus in memory of toddler Harlow Edwards who was tragically killed in October.

The bench is the result of the determination of Coupar Angus resident Moira Cummings to have somewhere where Harlow’s family could sit amongst the crocuses recently planted by Pride of Place and volunteers from the town.

Moira said :“I came up with the idea when the crocuses were planted in memory of Harlow in November and thought it would be nice to do something to show the love and support the community has for Harlow’s family.

“Harlow was such a beautiful wee girl, she always used to give me a cheeky smile at the school and she will be missed forever.

“I wanted to help create a place where people can come and sit and remember her and it’s going to be lovely when the crocuses come out.”

She added:“I was sent a picture of a bench that I thought would be perfect and through a friend of a friend got in touch with Gillies and Mackay in Errol.

“I cannot begin to say how grateful we are with the bench they made for us and from the bottom of my heart I would like to thank the team there.

“I would also like to thank Kenny Millar and Perth and Kinross Council’s Greenspace team who installed the bench, and Kevin MacKay and Tam Miller for all their advice and support.”
