MP Phillips targeted in fake online porn images

Labour politician also speaks out after attempted burglary

BIRMINGHAM MP Jess Phillips has revealed how she was targeted by fake revenge porn posted online and suffered an attempted break-in at her home last week.

The Labour MP for Yardley branded the superimposed images and threats as “the usual dark web online nonsense”.

Meanwhile, burglars also attempted to force her garage door open, but no one got inside her home in the West Midlands.

She has reported the separate incidents to the authorities, which are not believed to be linked.

The politician also condemned vandals after the shutters at her constituency office in Acocks Green were spray painted with “F4J”, which stands for Fathers4Justice, over the weekend.

Speaking about the three separate incidents over the last week, Ms Phillips told the Post: “It was just about posting fake images of me... revenge porn and stuff like that and they were talking about my kids.

“It’s just the usual dark web online nonsense.

“The threats specifically referred to me being an ‘uppity woman, a left wing woman who needs to be silenced’.

“You get those sorts of things and that sort of issue with people who send you vile emails and make threads about you online.”

But she said it was “quite another thing” when people “feeling misogyny about you fighting for woman’s rights is then spray painted on the front of your office.”

“It just makes it realistic that these people are near me rather than just a group in America or something,” she added.

The vandalism at her office on Yardley Road happened overnight last Saturday.

Fathers4Justice did not condemn the vandalism and instead claimed the MP had refused to help some fathers seeking assistance

to see their children, claims the MP denies.

“It is unsurprising then that fathers who have been disenfranchised by the MP will seek an outlet for their frustration and distress, which appears to have led to one dad spray painting her office with ‘F4J’,” the campaign group said in a statement.

“Rather than supporting her constituents, or seeking to engage with them as their MP, she has chosen to smear the person responsible as an ‘aggressive criminal’.”

Ms Phillips denied she does not help fathers see their children and would help any constituent.

“It is not me who is branding the action criminal it is the law,” she said.

“Also it is absolutely untrue that I don’t help fathers to see their children and what is more saying it is dangerous. All of my constituents can seek help and advice from me on anything they wish.

“I am, however, not above the courts in our land and have no control over the decisions that they make and nor should I.

“It is vanishingly rare that parents are not able to see their children because of court decisions and where it does I assume that the courts have every reason to believe it would be unsafe.”

Ms Phillips is currently supporting the Domestic Abuse Bill.

“We’re seeking to make sure that violent fathers are not allowed to have access to their children,” she said.

“Which is a reasonable thing to do. I spoke in Parliament about it the week before.”

The threats specifically referred to me being an ‘uppity woman, a left wing woman who needs to be silenced’.
